October 2011 News
Eileen’s News- October 2011
Welcome to our NEW Coyle School website! We hope this transition will be an easy and welcome change. All class schedules are now listed on the Google calendar to the right. Scroll over the date for more info, including class details and directions to the location!
The new Coyle School Facebook page will be replacing the old Voy Message board. See the Facebook icon in the right menu. The Facebook page allows students and their parents to upload feis pictures and stay in touch with their teachers.
Also there is a new For Sale tab on the Coyle Facebook page that is now setup for parents and students to post all for sale items such as shoes, shirts, Coyle dresses and Solo dresses (Pictures can be uploaded!).
Beginning in September our Saturday and Tuesday classes will no longer be a the New Covenant Church Campus. We will be moving with Pennsylvania Dance Theatre to their new location located on Mt Airy Avenue. The new location is about 2/3 minutes down Germantown Avenue, past the Wawa. There are a pluses to this move: 1) No tight driveways to maneuver; 2) More parking spaces!; 2) AIR CONDITIONING!!; and 3) NO STAIRS!!. The new address wassent home with registration papers in July.
Coyle School Feis – Sunday, November 13- please mark your calendars now. We always need new volunteers. We are asking that all parents (even beginner parents) volunteer two hours the day before, during, and after. It is a great way for you to see what the competitions are all about. Our feis is one of the best run because we have such good support from our parents. Last year was one of the best for volunteering!
Coyle School Anniversary Dance – the dance will be held on Friday, September 30 at The Dolce at Valley Forge. More information will be posted shortly on the Coyle School of Irish Dance – PA & NJ Facebook page. I will be sending emails over the summer as well. We are going to need some parent volunteers to take charge of raffle baskets. We are also going to be doing an anniversary journal – would anyone like to volunteer to help with this? Anyone have any experience if doing a journal? Please let me know if you would like to help in anyway.
Costume Raffle – The dressmaker that makes our school costumes has agreed to donate a Coyle School costume (valued at $550). We will be selling raffle tickets and the winner will be drawn at the anniversary dance. Raffle tickets will be $20 per ticket. Look for the flyer to be sent shortly!!
New address, emails or phone numbers – To ensure that we have updated contact information for all students (even those who have previously registered), please take the time to register with the new form below.
Registration packets for September 2011 – I will be sending the registration packets as an email attachment by the end of July – after camp. If you would like me to send one via US Mail please let me know – I do not mind mailing them. Registration packets will also be posted on the home page of the Coyle School website.
Referral system – If you have anyone this is interested in beginning Irish dances lessons, please send their address to me and I will forward the beginner registration packet to them. If your referral signs ups and stays in class till March 2012, you will receive $65 off your last tuition payment. If more than one referral, receive $100 off last payment. The new student may be a friend, sibling, or other relative. This is only good for my classes – Saturday and Thursday (not for Patsy or Colleen’s classes). Very Important – The referral MUST be a brand new beginner – never had Irish dance lessons with a certified (TCRG) teacher before. This will not be for anyone that is interested in transferring from another dancing school. That would be soliciting.
Clothing Closet – We will be doing a clothing order sometime in the fall, when we get back to class. I do have some items right now:
- 2 – Adult small royal blue Coyle trinity knot t-shirt – $5 each
- 1 – Adult large royal blue coule Trinity knot t-shirt – $5
Local Feis open for registration:
This is a feis that ALL of the girls/boys should attend. If you are unsure, please ask me. Most of the dancers can do at least one dance, 2 steps. This would be a great opportunity for them to see what a competition (Feis) is like.

Class Attire – I know that it is cold out, but please make sure that the dancers have shorts, leggings, skirt, or skort. I need to see their legs and feet. They can bring them in their bag and change into them in the bathroom or wear them under their sweatpants.
Hair – Please have your daughter’s hair up and off their face.? Ponytail, pigtails, or headband – I do not want their hair falling into their eyes
Very Important: Please make sure that everyone has the correct shoes, I will not let them dance any more if they are wearing socks. They would have to have the correct equipment if they were playing soccer, football, or field hockey, so please have them wear the correct equipment for Irish dance.
Inclement weather – For weekday classes, if schools are closed or have early dismissal, there will be no classes held that night. For Saturday classes,I will (1) send an email by 8:15am, (2) post a message on the dancing school’s message board, (3) post something on the Coyle School of Irish Dance – PA & NJ’s Facebook page (see the link in the right menu). Please note: I will not make phone calls. Please check the website or Facebook page for any updated information regarding weather related cancellations.
Remember! Check this website and your emails each week before coming to class for any updated information. Always check the monthly calendars too. Telephone calls are rarely made. If your email address changes during the year, please contact me. I do send reminder emails… so please check regularly. If you do not have email/internet access let me know at class and I’ll forward the newsletter via US Mail.
Thanks, looking forward to a new year!
